Bert Brooks, age 95, of Centerville, Iowa, died Monday, June 4, 2012, at Centerville Nursing & Rehab Center in Centerville. He was born the son of Bert and Pearl (Vrell) Brooks on March 29, 1917 in Roseville, Ohio. He graduated from the Lewistown, Illinois High School in 1934.

On January 26, 1946, Bert was united in marriage to Ethel Anderson in East Moline, Illinois. He worked for the Herman Nelson Company and later would become a Foreman for Iowa Steel & Wire in Centerville.

He was preceded in death by: his parents; his wife, Ethel Brooks on March 15, 2001; and his brother, Harry Brooks.

Bert is survived by: his sons, Mike Brooks of Elkhorn, Wisconsin and Mark Brooks of Mosinee, Wisconsin; two grandchildren, Carolyn and Jay Brooks; and four great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, June 9, 2012 at 10 am at the Schmidt Family Funeral Home in Centerville with Pastor Kathryn Franzenburg officiating. Burial will follow in the Numa Cemetery in Numa, Iowa. Visitation will be held on Friday, June 8, 2012 from 2 until 8 pm with the family present from 6 pm until 8 pm at the funeral home.
